Day Two, what did i do day two ? Kind of getting vague here, should of written when it was fresh in my mind , but still can give it a whirl. Was on good behavior in Palm Springs (well as well as can be expected). And didn't do any wild drinking or anything. So the next day was able to actually do something productive. That being, thinking of renting a bike , first i thing i did was go get myself some breakfast . There was a Irish establishment by my hotel called Dickie O'Neals , that caught my eye ..Me being Irish (i am half Irish) knew it wasn't a option , it was a requirement .not really , it's hard to explain, but being in a Irish establishment makes me feel at ease. something like that. Growing up on the east coast around the Boston area. There was no shortage of Irish folks . lot's of em , sadly when i moved west , doesn't seem to be as large a population of Irish . Just trying to say try to say, feel comfortable in a Irish establishment something like that!! So made it to Breakfast there , it was less than a quarter mile from the hotel i rented.Got some corned beef hash and eggs and toast . Me being a late , mid -morning kind of person. Not a early riser , something like that.My receipt says i was there at 11:09 am . That's seems about right for me ,Prime time morning , that s about the time i having my morning coffee. My server was really good and attentive , the restaurant wasn't very busy , maybe like 5-6 people in there. So my server gave me some pretty good service.no complaints. After Breakfast , I had thought about renting a bike. At one point was going to bring my bike with me from Los Angeles. Didn't happen . So when i pulled into town the first night spotted a bike shop (rental) So thought i would give it a try. Made it to the bike shop it was called, Bike Palm Springs right on Palm Canyon. Got something like a beach cruiser , for twenty dollars for a half day. Thought that was a fairly good price versus lugging my racing bike all the way from Los Angeles. The clerk (think his name was Bart if i am not mistaken-will explain later).Gave me bottle of water to bike with. Doesn't seem like a big deal a bottle of water , but let me explain. When i left the bike shop it was about quarter to one something like that.As i was leaving the rental bike shop i had my headphones on , playing some music on my mp'3 player , didn't hear my water bottle drop. I was only about maybe 1500 or 2000 feet from where i dropped it . Doesn't seem like a big deal losing a water bottle now does it? Well actually it is in Palm Springs, because it was like Ninetie degrees outside! In Los Angeles you don't really need as much fluids as you do in the desert found myself drinking triple the amount of fluids i would drink back by the coast. guess i am trying to say, it's cheaper to live out in the desert i am sure . But in the hotter months be expecting to stop by the local 7-11 and buying water and soda every few hrs.So add five - seven dollars a day to keeping hydrated in the hotter months. i mean if you lived there. I actually noticed that because i don't get out to the desert to often . OK so where was i ?Getting my bottle that i dropped , re-traced my path on the bike and found it . I was stoked , because really you CANT do any physical activity without water, you would actually get heatstroke or something to that effect, it's not a option it's really a necessary! So I continued my journey on my bike , it was really a great way to see Palm Springs. You cant' really ride in Downtown Palm Springs so to speak . They will give you a ticket riding in the center of town. However Bart gave me a map of the the bike paths and they were really awesome. Really enjoyed the bike ride, only almost got run over once by a pickup truck. Remember i was listening to music through my headphones.Zoning out in the hot sun , not a good thing to do not staying to the right,Other than that every thing went fine , the bike had a lock included .. so was a able to stop at a hotel on my bike and refill my water bottle. Actually a really cool bartender gave some free water. Like i said before , constantly need fluids to be doing thing's in the heat. And also made a stop at a coffee stand for some iced coffee. Anyway had the bike till like 5 pm but i was getting pooped out , in that hot sun , so thought i might head into the shop a little earlier then 5 pm .Bart said the shop was open till 5 pm and i sure he wanted to get out of there too. Anyway finished my bike ride and got into a conversation with Bart for like 20 minutes. He was really interesting, Think he was German-actually he was - i asked him (he looked kind of German , and he drove a German make car) part of our conversation . He was way cool and told me some things about the desert and where he used to live , Houston or something like that. I lived in Houston when i was teenager briefly.Anyway enough of that . It was a good bike rental store if your ever in the desert .. Check em out and maybe you'll talk to Bart . he rocked. the folks in the desert are really accommodating and service oriented it's there livelihood so to speak . It's a great little desert community (town) to visit even for a day or a few day's ..so if your reading this check out Palm Springs and the surrounding communities.. Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, La Quinta...
well today , listening to some clear sounding CD's after literally Years!

. Went to a wedding in Portsmouth NH in Sept. and have not
really got out of town since. My
birthday is in April , April 21st to be exact and thought this may
be a good time to pack on up and get out to the desert, that being Palm
Springs. Didn't come out on my birthday because of the Coachella Festival.
Really didn't want to deal with the crowds so thought the day after would be
much better. I mean my job takes me out of town, from time to time
for work reason’s . May get out of Los Angeles for the day but I have to return back to town because I
have a company vehicle . So this little three day jaunt was WAY due. Got out
about noon on Mon. for a Much needed
three day weekend ! you see I work a tremendous amount of hrs. usually
twelve hr. shifts. And not much time for rest and relaxation. So this was a much needed break,. Day one: packed up
and. and didn't have to be anywhere till Thurs morning.. as I am writing now I
am in a small coffee shop in Palm Springs called Espresso Cielo. Something
as simple as writing on my blog in a
coffee shop .. Mainly because when I am in Los Angeles doesn't seem like I have
to much free time. So this time is really precious for me, and really enjoying
it to say the least.
OK got out of Los Angeles at noon and pulled into Palm
Springs about 2 pm. Whenever I come into town. Don’t ask me why , but always
stop at this Mexican Cantina in downtown. It’s called Las Casuelas, don’t ask
why, but I can even pronounce this restaurant correctly, it's pronounced Loss Cause way las.. I mean Spanish is not my native language. . Don’t
ask me what is means.. think it’s something to do with the family . Something
to that effect.Think when I first came to Palm Springs in my twenties . Came
into town with my mom and a few friends and think we came to this
establishment. So I have been coming here ever since. It’s still the same
restaurant as it was 25 yrs. Ago. Hasn't changed much. OK after lunch checked
into my hotel . Booked my hotel on AAA’s
website. Didn't really know to much about the hotel itself but looked at
the map and the rating 3 stars good enough for me . And it seemed OK to me. The
room was actually really nice and they had
a adult pool and a separate pool for children . The spa wasn't working,
the sauna or the steam room (or the hair dryer in my room for that matter). Did
actually use the exercise room one day, had my gym clothes and my mp 3 player so
got a quick workout in.However still a fairly nice hotel not complaining , just
think they should have a little better maintained at the hotel, However would
stay there in the future because it was really peaceful , Wasn't very crowded
and very relaxing.

OK so i wanted to get some dinner last night at 8:40pm last night in the suburbs of Los Angeles last night, first establishment I stopped at in Hawthorne Ca.That i have been too several times. Luigi's Italian Restaurant told me didn't want to serve me because they had already broken down the kitchen. Ahh a Friday night again at 8:40 pm. not especially a late dinner and it was going to be a to go order. They apparently closed at 9:00 pm.I mean they were still technically open! So i moved on second establishment was a new Mexican restaurant in Redondo Bch (Lawndale town line) that being Chile Verde. They DID take my order however they were closing and requested i did not sit in the dining room. jeez what ever happened to Customer service?.. anyway just letting out a bit of frustration. thanks for reading. if your a associated with Luigi's you may want to think about getting out of the restaurant business and start a dry cleaning business or something. However if a customer came in five minutes before you were closing you may not take their dirty shirts!
